I had so much respect for Catherine Tate after this. I would never dream of asking the Queen if she was disrespecting me. But she did. There was a lot of hilarious moments in this, "But she could cut off your head though." "Don't-care-cus-I-don't-even-need-it." "Is one bothered?" I also love how you can see the Queen is actually enjoying the performance, and that she gets the joke. Kudos to all three of them for pulling this off live, and in front of the mother fucking Queen. *claps* /I know this isn't from The Catherine Tate Show, but I just had to include it.
#9: Would you like a rhubarb and custard?
I love this sketch because I find Bernie hilarious, in everything she does. Having her phone on vibrate, Bernie discussing her current relationship and how she doesn't kiss and tell, and how she thinks there's no point in being in a stable if you can't ride a few horses (she was talking about sex...). Catherine Tate's acting in this scene is pure brilliance, and her comic timing is perfect.
#8: It's a gentleman's sponge bag.
Derek is one of my favorite characters on the Catherine Tate show. He's always so shocked when people assume he's gay and then goes on with him infamous catch-phrase, "How very dare you!" I could write about - as I will in the John sketch - stereotypes and what not. But honestly? This one's here because it's just down right hilarious. "I have to be very careful with what I put in my mouth," and "Just because I live with my mother and haven't found the right girl yet you assume I take it up the 'arris!" And Lenard, don't forget Lenard, he never says anything but he always maneges to make us laugh with his disgusted looks. Also, Catherine looks so real as a man I have to keep reminding my self that it actually isn't one. /mindfuck
#7: All my life I've been looking for a flame haired woman with a strong jaw and a personality to match.
This has got to be my favorite Bernie sketch. Her pushing the old woman in the wheelchair out the door for some fresh air is priceless. I love Bernie so much because how she acts is how most of the nurse I've met act (except they're not as extreme as Bernie obviously). I just love how she seems oblivious to the other nurse fancying her, then proceeds to ask her out for some karaoke. As always, Catherine Tate's one liners always leave me laughing long after I've finished watching it. The "You can't sack us because we're gay!" and "Now wait a minuet, you're not lumping me in the same category as this mad fanny basher!" especially had me in stitches.
#6: Are you gay, sir? Are you homophobic, sir?
Lauren Cooper is my second favorite character, right after Nan. I know some people who don't like her because they think she's annoying, but that's really why I love her so much. Yeah, I would hate to be friends with her irl, but watching her totally own someone? So funny. I love how she assumes that because he says he isn't gay, that he must be homophobic. And the little scene at the begging about liposuction had me in tears of laughter when I first watched it. "Oh I can't eat no more." And then when she asks him if he's Graham norton's bitch, and if Graham broke his heart. Awesome. :')
#5: Not loopy fucking Lou, they've never let her out again have they?
(The sketch I'm talking about ends at 5:15, but by all means carry on watching the rest.)
I love it when Nan talks about people behind there back, calling them names and what-not. In this one, the build up to main reason Danny comes round is amazing, I legit thought something bad had happened. Everything that comes out of nans mouth is hilarious, "(on a girls arse) You could show fucking cartoons on it.", "Stood there worrying about what side your hair parted while I'm getting turned over by a man who's mother eats her own shit!" "With his little cowboy outfit. Shoulda fucking kept it on.", "Don't ask him, he ain't got a job."
#4: Have you heard about our John? He's a gay man now.
This sketch is so amazing I have no idea where to start. I love how even though it's a comedy, and there is not supposed to be any messages or deeper meanings to them, Catherine Tate does just that. I think it's brilliant how she maneges to squash two homosexual cliches, one being that no one accepts it, and that your family will reject you for it, and two being that gay men know everything about fashion/style (John's face's were hilarious in those scene's). The accent is spot on and one of the funniest I've ever heard ("Well" "Well" "Weyl!"), and the chocolate penis is just epic. "It's a peynus, but ya can eayt it!"
#3: But I know she's out there, because I can smell the sick.
I love this sketch so much it's unreal. We all have that one embarrassing family member who gets drunk and spills all your family secrets, and although I have seen many clips similar too this, this is the best one. Her acting never fails to impress me, and I know how hard it is to act drunk, realistic and funny at the same time; but Catherine Tate does just that. There's not a boring bit in this video (okay, when the husband is talking it is a little boring, but Victoria apologizes for it being so shit), and it's just golden comedy. The seven proposals, the bulimic sister-in-law, the "I'll let you be the judge of that, because I know how much you all enjoy judging." and the 39 men will never not be funny.
#2: RU disrespecting me?
This is one of my favorite Lauren sketches (as well as the one where she can speak french really well), because even though she's a stereotypical "chav", she's still cleaver and actually knows the answers to the periodic table and is genuinely a smart girl. I hate it when people misjudge "chavs" and assume they're thick (one of my friends from school dresses like a chav, talks like a chav, and she's top in science and is doing well in all her other subjects as well). That's probably why Lauren is one of my favorite characters from this show, and I will forever ♥ Miss Tate for creating her. As someone in the youtube comments said, she can do the work, she just ain't bovverd.
#1: I've got three words for you, calorie controled diet.
The Nan is my favorite character from The Catherine Tate show, and with bloody good reason. She doesn't care what anyone thinks about her, yet she's always so kind to people to their faces and as soon as they're gone, bam! She starts insulting them in the most humorous way possible. In this sketch, nan's had a nasty fall and has to stay in hospital for a little while longer. Catherine's Nan is brilliant because she is just like some of the nans that I know, and once again Catherine breaks down those troublesome stereotypes. Her acting in this is pure genius, especially when she says "Fuck that!" on seeing Cheryl. The whole thing is amazingly funny, and I want to quote some of the things she says but I also don't want to ruin the amazing-ness for you. Just trust me when I say that this is most defiantly worthy of the #1 spot on such a hilarious show by the Queen of comedy, Miss Catherine Tate. "Eh, maud. What a beautiful girl!"
GagaTate thanks you for your time.

I love this! Ver nicely put together. My favourite is number 2, that always makes me laugh. I prefer the smaller "in-between" characters like Amanda though.

And I do love the "in-between" ones too, like Elaine Figgis and Amanda like you said, but there is only so many you can fit on a top ten :)
